Beehiiv - Getting started with Beehiiv

with so many features and details, how do you get started?

I’m brand new to Beehiiv.

I have experiences I want to share about various tools and techniques involving the AI industry

I’m starting with the free tier expecting to grow to the next larger one.

But, where do I begin?

At the moment, I’ll just create drafts of topics (posts) and save them for further editing, site setup and eventual publishing

I think I can do one a day, commenting on the discoveries of the day and store up the first 20 in advance. Max post per day at the moment is every 12 hours, - would have to ask support for restriction lift if needed. I wonder what the rules are.

It’s good I don’t have to specifically save drafts, they are saved automatically, as I would probably forget to often.

Dashboard/Write/Posts/Edit will become my basic workflow for a while.

but what is a “Post”? What will it become? An email published to the subscriber list?? An email saved in the website? Something else? Can it be sent to say Medium, or other site? We’ll see.

But this is definitely meant to be an an email , as contrasted to a blog post or something else.

I wonder if I can include, images, videos, GPTs and assistant widgets in the email?.

I wonder if affiliate links are allowed in the emails and blogs

I wonder how to handle contacts - a special beehiiv approach or just put an email and phone number in each email?

They have the usual social media links, not sure if I want to get involved with any of them.

The approach of start a draft, build it up and publish when ready all in Beehiiv seems to work OK compared to doing it in obsidian first. Well see how that plays out over time. Can’t very well edit posts after publication ,but blogs? Maybe.

NOPE: Should blogs be done before emails? or maybe instead of? use the email to announce and summarize the more detailed blog?

It appears that there are no separate blogs besides the emails. The published emails are stored in beehiiv’s provided website instead. There is no blog.

Nope: the emails could make an interesting statement, discuss it a little and then point to the blog for more details and comments, etc.

we’ll see

I intend to include a substantial amount of conversations I have with AI in the material to demonstrate their use in idea development
