May 27 - LLM vs. AI Agent vs AI Workflow vs AI Agentic Application
what's the difference?

We hear these terms in the ai news but what is the difference?
LLM (Large Language Models) are what powers almost all AI resources. The chatbot interfaces like ChatGPT is the way we send our comments to an LLM.
ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, and similar chatbots are interfaces to LLM Models. They designed to return information related to what we request but they don’t do anything else. There is a race among the vendors to out perform each other in the quality, relevance, timeliness and value of Chatbots. You can even create your own chatbot form your private material, safe from the public internet.
Then, adding the ability to take action, rather then just return information turns an LLM into an AI Agent.
Then, stringing Agents into a predefined specific sequence to accomplish tasks is a “workflow” done by tools such as Zapier, Make and N8N.
But going even farther, allowing an Agent to act as an orchestrator of other Agents instead of carrying out a predefined sequence is termed an “AI Agentic Application”.
These are coming.
